British drivers should regularly check and maintain their tyres, according to a leading tyre safety group.
TyreSafe has worked with several leading industry experts to compile a list of seven key tyre safety tips to ensure motorists remain safe in the winter.
Stuart Jackson, chairman of TyreSafe, said: "Seven is seen as a lucky number by many, but luck plays no part when it comes to tyre safety. Regular checks and maintenance are vital.
"However, if you're at all unsure about any aspect regarding tyre safety, don't leave it to chance. Call into your nearest dealer and get them checked out by an expert."
Among the tips on the list are: checking for adequate tread depth with the '20p test', ensuring tyres are sufficiently inflated before any long journeys and fitting winter tyres when the temperature drops below seven degrees Celsius.
Brits are also urged to carry a spare tyre in case of a puncture and visually inspect tyres for cracks and bulges before long journeys.
