Tyresafe urges young motorists to check tyres

2nd February 2012

Compound safety organisation Tyresafe is set to launch a new campaign focused on ensuring young drivers understand the importance of checking tyres regularly.

Speaking in an interview with eTyres, Tyresafe chairman Stuart Jackson noted the importance of ensuring our younger generation of motorists drive safely.

Research conducted by RAC in October highlighted the careless driving habits of young road users after it was revealed that almost 50 per cent of 18 to 24 year olds questioned admitted to using a mobile phone while driving.

Ensure your tyres are properly inflated, and all tread reaches the minimum required standard is an essential practice all drivers must adopt.

The issues is particularly relevant too, with UK drivers facing colder temperatures and difficult road conditions, with the MET office issuing an all weather warning for the UK.

Tyresafe is now set to begin a campaign focusing on promoting the use of safe tyres in the UK.

Chairman Stuart Jackson said: "Young motorists are a particular important target audience as they are still in their formative driving years and what they take on board at an early age could stay with them for the rest of their motoring lives.”
