The majority of Britons are not planning to invest in winter tyres this year, according to new research.
Car auction firm Manheim Auctions has published the results of a new survey which shows that just under five per cent of UK drivers are planning to buy cold weather tyres this year despite weather forecasters predicting another season of chaos on the roads.
The study further underlined how ill-prepared some British motorists are for the winter, with around two-thirds of respondents failing to carry warm clothing and 75 per cent failing to keep jump leads in their car
"Preparing for winter is second nature to many people but it goes beyond just carrying an ice scraper and de-icer," said Craig Mailey, marketing director of Manheim Auctions.
"You need to prepare for the possibility of being stuck in traffic for long periods or of getting stranded in the snow."
The survey was conducted by One Poll in August with 3,000 respondents.
