Citroen to display innovative drivetrain system in Geneva

19th February 2013

French car manufacturer Citroen has announced that motoring enthusiasts will be able to get a glimpse of its fascinating new drivetrain system at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

The brand's newly announced Hybrid Air arrangement stands out as it utilises compressed air as part of a fully enclosed hybrid system.

Drivers will be able to discover at the 83rd edition of the Geneva Motor Show next month how the technology works by combining a small petrol engine with compressed air and hydraulic power.

Not only is this set to achieve fuel economy of close to 97mpg, but the arrangement means that a car's weight can be minimised as it does not need to carry a vehicle battery to function.

Citroen also claims that its Hybrid Air system will help a car achieve a reduced environmental footprint, offer motorists more affordable pricing and have no impact at all on a vehicle's cabin space.

Motorists can see exactly how the technology comes together when it is fitted to a C3 with a 1.2-litre VTi 82 three-cylinder engine and displayed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, which is open to the public from March 7th to 17th.
