Homologated tyres are those that have been approved directly via a manufacturer. These tyres are ones that have met the standards and regulatory requirements of the manufacturer.
The energy lost when a tyre is in motion is known as 'rolling resistance'. This has a direct impact on fuel consumption.
A tyre's rolling resistance score ranges from A to G. Over the life of the tyre, fitting an A rated tyre could save you up to 6 litres of fuel when compared to a G rated tyre.
A tyre's wet grip capacity is expressed in Grades from A to G.
The difference in braking distances between each grade is roughly 3m - an average car length. This makes average stopping distance between an A and G rated tyre 18m. That's 4 car lengths.
The exterior noise grade of a tyre is expressed in decibels - accompanied by one, two or three sound waves, with one wave being the best noise level performance.
To achieve the best grade, a tyre’s noise level must be at least 3dB under the legal limit set by the EU.
Exceptional dry grip - on and off the track
Superb dry grip and braking
Maximize your track performance with the SportMaxx Race. Derived from Dunlop Motorsports technology, the high grip racing compound gives you exceptional levels of road adherence and braking ability. This track optimised tyre is fully approved for road use.
Precise steering and handling stability
Enjoy precise steering response and consistent handling. The SportMaxx Race uses a hybrid overlay to limit tire distortion at high speeds, enhancing steering and stability.
Enhanced cornering grip
The tread features high angle ribs to increase lateral stiffness, for improved control when performing cornering manoeuvres. Massive outer shoulder blocks increase cornering grip.
Reliable wet performance
While optimised for dry, the SportMaxx Race performs well in wet conditions. The asymmetric tread design features four inner grooves to quickly evacuate water, reducing the risk of aquaplaning.
Asymmetric tread design provides improved handling and aquaplaning resistance.
Multi Radius Tread employ ten different radii and are therefore more precise. This results in highly effective pressure deployment on the road contact patch. The effect is smoother transitions from straight to corner, leading to more precise and progressive reactions.
Silicia-Plus Compound A motorsport derived tread compound that delivers high levels of grip, particularly on wet roads and in low temperatures.
Multi-Pitch Tread Design Technology™ helps reduce noise for a quiet ride.
