Product details
The Michelin Primacy 5 is made for drivers who want safe, long-lasting tyres for everyday conditions. It’s suitable for a wide range of cars, offering a balance of good grip and comfort.
The Primacy 5 combines two Michelin technologies for better control and wear: EverGrip for consistent wet braking and MaxTouch for even tread wear. Together, these features help the tyre stay safe for longer.
- Wet braking: 4% shorter stopping distances to its predecessor, and maintains performance even when worn¹ ²
- Longevity: 18% more mileage than the previous model³
- Rolling resistance: 5% lower for greater fuel efficiency⁴
- Noise control: New tread pattern to reduce road noise
It’s also compatible with electric vehicles, as the rubber compound helps manage energy consumption, while the quieter tread means a more comfortable ride.
With deeper grooves and a new compound, this model efficiently clears water and reduces stopping distances.
Tests show an 8% improvement in wet braking compared to the Primacy 4+ and it boasts an EU ‘A’ wet grip rating. On dry roads, it’s stable and responsive, even during emergency stops.
The Primacy 5 is built to go further. Compared with its predecessor, it lasts up to 18% longer³, thanks to stronger materials and a tread pattern that distributes pressure more evenly.
This reduces irregular wear, extending tyre life without losing grip or comfort.
With a 5% lower rolling resistance⁴, the Primacy 5 can improve fuel efficiency in both petrol and diesel cars.
It can also handle the extra torque and weight of electric vehicles while delivering a smoother, quieter ride and extending battery range.

(1) Wet braking performance - Tests by TÜV SÜD Product Service, on Michelin's request, between 80-20 kph, in low grip conditions in July 2024. Carried out on 205/55 R16 91V on a VW Golf 8 (worn means machine buffed to the depth of Tread Wear Indicator according to European regulation: ECE R30r03f) comparing MICHELIN Primacy 5 (new: 100% - worn: 100%) versus MICHELIN Primacy 4+ (new: 91.4% - worn: 99.2%).
(2) Wet braking performance - Worn means machine buffed to the depth of Tread Wear Indicator according to European regulation: ECE R30r03f. On new and worn 205/55 R16 91V MICHELIN Primacy 5 is above the R117 European regulation wet grip threshold.
(3) Longevity - Tests by DEKRA TEST CENTRE, on Michelin's request, in July 2024, on 235/45 R18 98 W&Y on a Tesla Model 3 comparing MICHELIN Primacy 5 (100%) versus MICHELIN Primacy 4+ (82%).
(4) Fuel efficiency - Rolling Resistance tests conducted on machine by TÜV SÜD Product Service, on Michelin's request, June 2024, on 205/55 R16 91V, comparing MICHELIN Primacy 5 (100%) versus Primacy 4+ (94.7%).
