American tyre giant Goodyear presents its improved version of the already high performance UltraGrip 9. This new UltraGrip 9+ model provides compact vehicle drivers with even better braking, wet road grip, and driveability in winter weather.
The Goodyear Ultragrip + is truly an asset for the winter, as evidenced by the official 3PMSF grading (for “3 Peak Mountain Snowflake”) on the tyre’s sidewall. This new version provides the same tread design as its precursor, the Ultragrip 9. However, the main difference lies in the rubber compound of this latest iteration. Goodyear’s research teams have developed the “Winter Grip” technology. Behind the name lies a mix of new ingredients that influence the rubber’s elasticity in order to provide better grip over snowy and icy surfaces. Additionally, “Mileage Plus” technology has been applied to increase the tyre’s service life. The tyre offers exceptional mileage by significantly reducing the tread’s risk of cracking, as well as its delamination (that is, the rubber’s deterioration by longitudinal shearing). Its tread pattern has 3 different kinds of sipes: zig-zag, straight and interlinked, all of which contribute to increasing grip over the most slippery surfaces. It is also comprised of wide “hydrodynamic” grooves that efficiently drain water and improve traction over snowy ground.
The stiff outer shoulder with its different sizes of rubber blocks provides good stability in dry conditions, even when cornering.
